Ugg Boot Scam??

Hi,
Not sure if this is the right place to post this thread but here goes...
My girlfriend wants Uggs for christmas.
I decided to get her some, after searching for ugg boot sales i found a website called topukshoes.com
I ordered last Thursday and payed via ecpss payment gateway with a debit card! the money left my account and i checked back on my acount history every day, the order status never changed from 'processing'
I used the contact page and have had regular contact with the site (through a gmail email address) Firstly being told to be patient, then they had an error that made the order status not change and then they told me that the shipping company had lost my parcel so they would sent it out again. This morning i finally get a tracking reference for them but dhl doesnt reconise it!
All evidence points towards SCAM!!
Is there anyway i can get my money back? If so how do i go about it?
Thanks in advance!

the website was registered on the 10th November 2012. (the reviews are all from 2010!) The English in the "about us" is terrible and references a different site which does not exist
I would expect you to receive nothing, or to receive fake boots (and if they do sent something you may also end up with a customs bill - You should notice that we will mark each parcel "Gift" or "Sample" so that the customs will never disturb us. But if something unpleasant occurred, you the customer should bear the complete liability for the charges to come.)

I wish you luck trying to get a refund, there are a lot of these dodgy sites out there for UGGs and I think the official UGG site lists the only genuine sellers on it

The site looks like a definite scam to me.

    1. The site has no physical contact details, just a form.
    2. The site is registered to an individual in California and only registered on 10 November.
    3. There is a fake VeriSign logo (which I have reported to VeriSign).
    4. Their privacy page and about us page appear to be a straight copy and paste from another site without even bothering to change the URLs.
  • Thanks for all the help. i have just thought it would probably be a wise idea to cancel my debit card too because i'm guessing they will now have all them details too?!
I wish I had taken time to see these signs before buying and not rushed into it but with christmas just round the corner i jumped in with both feet so i could get it delivered in time for christmas!

The biggest problem with these sites now is that Customs are seizing 1,000's of pieces a DAY.

So if they say the courier has 'lost it' they haven't, customs have seized it because they are fake.

    Good luck with the refund.

There's some good advice on here about UGGs:

An even better way (and perhaps more reliable way?) would be to go to the Authentic Ugg website where they list the websites and shops they sell to and will also answer any email queries on new websites found.

As in the article, call your bank first.
You may not even need a letter.
  • Sorry, i missed that bit, i was trying to read through quite fast as im at work!
I rang the bank and all they said was they will sent out a form to fill in to dispute the payment, i also have to send any communication i have had with the seller. (which is quite a few emails with a worse understanding of the English language than my 1yo daughter!)
Im guessing that this is the usual procedure?
Thanks again to everyone for your help!

Why not just buy through official sources?
If they are cheap there is a reason.
