Plan to get Argos Balance onto 0% card??

Hi I have been attepting to transfer my balance from my Argos card to a 0% cc I have been offered but ran into the issue discussed on here a few times about the unusual length of the Argos card number not being accepted! The only thing I can think to do is use my husbands empty cc for a month or so buying everything I would usually buy with my debit card. And use the amount I would have spent on my debit card to pay off the Argos card. Then transfer the balance run up from hubby's card to my 0% card.

Firstly is there any easier way before I embark on this plan? :undecided

Secondly, is it ok to transfer a balance from a cc not in my name to my 0% Barclaycard? I haven't applied for it yet but have an offer from them and I should have no problem being accepted.

Many thanks, Jenni

That would work. Or you could look at a money transfer option from MBNA and pay it off that way.

If it's done online, there should be no problem. But they tend not to like it and may ask you if you phone.

Remember that you're not guaranteed the card though and also that Barclays have an interesting strategy of sending out cards and then cancelling them immediately.

the issue here is that the argo card is not a credit card, its a store card and the numbers are not recognized when trying a balance transfer.
If you keep on doing what's you've always done, you'll keep on being what you've always been...

Thanks, if I apply for the barclaycard first and do the transfer before we have spent on hubby's card would that work (and put his card in credit)?
  • No. Putting a card in credit is against the t&cs and could result in closure etc.
