Ebay

Hi,

Nor sure if this is the correct board to post this message.

The problem is:- I have recently won an item from ebay which is now due for payment. I have changed my mind now. I need to know what action will be taken if I don't make the payment to the seller.

Help

Thanks
M

you are obliged to pay for any items you win,

best thing to do is contact the seller and explain that you made a mistake and would they mind if you didnt buy it.

happend to me recently i clicked on a `buy it now` sale without realising it was pay buy cheque/postal order, so i emailed them and they said ok no probs.

if you just ignore it you will get black marks on you account and if you wanna buy and sell on ebay (succesfully) you dont want them.

You'll may get a negative feedback. Do it a couple more time and eBay can strike your account.

By entering a bid you are agreeing to a legal contract to buy that item, if the seller is very generous they may let you off the purchase as long as you pay the fees they will have incurred for the completion of the auction.

  • The seller cannot MAKE you pay, however as fatnbald said they will be looking to get their FVF's(Final Value Fees), so you could certainly try to offer to pay those, however you may well still get a NPB(Non-Paying Bidder) strike. Your best option is to get in touch with the seller as soon as possible, if you genuinely cannot pay then explain this and they may be nice to you, but they are within their rights to give you that strike.

technically they could send round bay lifts but unless you have bought something huge that's not going to happen

contact the buyer and explain - offering to pay the fees. They may agree but they are within their rights to demand full payment.
  • I'd also add, that in future you should be certain when you bid on an item that you actually want it. From the point of the seller, it's a hassle to deal with (I had someone pull out of a deal for £1000, for digital photography equipment after they bid - and it really makes your day suck!)

Unless of course you like... bought a hat or something.... and then your head fell off.... cos there's no avoiding that...
