PLEASE help Re refund and invoice - urgent!

Hi, have asked on Ebay board but no help whatsoever so have come on here. Sold a bike £70, buyer paid but paypal address was wrong so refunded and sent another invoice. Buyer is saying when he clicks through the invoice it says 'item not available, must have been purchased already or item listing expired'. In MyEbay the 'checkout complete' light is lit blue, the £ sign is lit blue with an arrow next to it which comes up as 'refunded' when I hover over it. There is nothing on my drop down list to 'unmark payment sent'. Have asked buyer to make sure he is clicking through a new invoice and not the original one but he says he is. Can anyone help? I need to get this sorted so I can book courier for Christmas delivery.
One more thing, he originally said he could not find the invoice, then said his Ebay registered email address had not been activated which he had fixed hence he had now received an invoice. Do Ebay and Paypal addresses have to be the same? I asked how he had paid me without having an Ebay email and he said his Ebay and Paypal email addresses were different. He has a feedback of about 40 so isn't exactly a newbie. I wish wholeheartedly he would just ask to cancel the transaction!!

  • Why not relisted the item as a buy it now and ask the winning bidder to repurchase?
  • send him an invoice to his paypal email address through paypal not ebay. you can still specify in that invoice what the invoice is for.
if i had known then what i know now

No really. That would incur more fees and a chance for buyer to leave two lots of feedback.

OP, you will need to send a stand alone PayPal invoice for named goods. Also I am not sure why the buyers feedback has anything to do with you making a mistake with your PayPal address?

Thanks for replies. Sorry for misunderstanding, it was their delivery address that was wrong in Paypal, courier would not accept it as postcode was wrong. I did what was suggested and sent an invoice via paypal, great, they paid it this morning - not great, it now says they have an unconfirmed address and to be wary of posting the item as I only have part seller protection! Paypal suggest contacting them and asking if they authorised the payment, can't for the life of me see how that helps as if it was fraudulent they are surely just going to say 'yes' so they get item delivered. I am now at a total loss as to what to do, I don't want to post without seller protection as I cannot afford to lose £70 (+ £11 Postage)! Please can anyone suggest something to help me sort this mess out. (Am really peed off with paypal, why do they allow unconfirmed addresses/wrong addresses to be registered with them?)

Just send them an email stating that you are still unable to post the item, as their paypal address is unverified, and as per paypal rules, you can only post to a verified address:

    https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=xpt/Marketing/general/ShippingAddress-outside

Send them the link, and tell them to follow the instructions on how to verify their address.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Thank you for all your replies. Not having a good day! I explained to buyer reason I could not post to his address and asked him politely to agree to cancel the transaction if he could not verify his address with paypal in time for Christmas posting. He replied 'please post item, I've never had problems with unconfirmed address before'. I again told him I couldn't post and I sent cancellation through but he did not agree to it! so I have now lost £7 commission and original fee. I feel so frustrated by this, surely if it is an unconfirmed address the transaction should automatically be closed by Ebay without the buyer having to agree, after all Ebay/Paypal are telling me it is risky to post to unconfirmed addresses as I am not covered fully by seller protection! And to cap it all off I guess I'll pick up a neg from buyer too.
