Seeking Work while in Support Group

I am in the support group for 6 months contribution based after being migrated from I.B
Hoping to find employment that I can do with my medical condition.and cease claiming.
If I succeed in obtaining a job and discover I cannot cope would I have to make a fresh claim for ESA and go through the Atos Assessment again

Thanks

  • If it is within 12 weeks of the original claim ending then it should be classed as a continuation under the Linking rule. If it is over 12 weeks then it will require a new claim, if you have earned enough to accrue the necessary NI Contributions while you were working, then this can be a new ESA(CB) claim, otherwise you will only be able to make an ESA(IR) one, if eligible.

Have you thought about doing Permitted Work first, this would allow you to test the water, without having to stop your ESA claim.
