Won't be long before ALL banks are using them.
Only basic accounts won't have them. As they don't seek authorisation.Never ASSUME anything its makes a>>> A55 of U & ME <<<0 -

As far as I'm aware basic contactless cards can actually do online authentication and I believe it's how American contactless cards operate. It just seems that most UK issuers only ever issue offline contactless cards.0 -

This is correct, contactless can be authorised online as well (Correct about US as well buts its a different technology). Some prepaid cards are contactless. (Barclaycard's paytag is as well). I imagine when the banks renew their agreement Visa will make them issue contactless cards to everyone. Although some banks will be switching to Debit MasterCard as MasterCard is offering some really competitive offers to the banks.0 -
Even a contactless transcation has a auth code when its processed by the retailer. Even if its 6 hours after the transaction is made.
Some will only batch process at the end of the day. Other retailers will run each one.
Some contactless will require authorisation. I have a 02 prepay card. That goes for auth. And I get a text telling me what I have spent as soon as the transaction is made.
Maybe basic accounts will get them in time. But people will have to be aware, that some banks will need to change the T/C to cover the chance of a customeer going over limit using a contactless card.Never ASSUME anything its makes a>>> A55 of U & ME <<<0 -
