Would keeping a diary of my illness help with my DLA appeal. Was thinking what else I can do to aid my appeal.
Already have a statement from my carer which included how my consultant report does not cover very much and the little detail.
I have no faith in my Psychiatrsit, he gave one or two lined answers to questions. so I can't see any supporting letter being of help.
How long should I do a diary for and how much detail?

It may do, yes.
Only as far as it sheds light on your care, or mobility needs in general.0 -

Include anything such as intrusive thoughts, voices, any behaviour that might be related to your condition. Oh, and any disagreements, misunderstandings or issues that arise with other people, as they can be interested in how people get on or communicate with others when they have a MH diagnosis.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll

Intrusive thoughts... Plenty of them! Two voices going on constantly......
I shall compile a diary and send it in.0 -
Can the DLA office use the diary in reconsidering as it will be based on a time after the initial application? How would the tribunal view a diary on a time outside when the application was made?0

With MH conditions, the tribunal will allow you to submit a diary covering later dates if you can demonstrate that your condition has not changed, and the incidents you describe actually mirror those that were happening at the time of the review.
I do think you will struggle without any decent medical evidence. It is possible to submit evidence from a private consultant, which clearly will not be cheap but would be worth it in the long run.0 -
A private consultant would not know my history so I can't see that being of use. Plus don't have the money for that.
My actual doctor contridicted himself in his report. All I have is my shrink and carer. It appears with dla you need a full scale back up of a consultant. His secetary said he simply does not have time to do reports for the DWP. Something I will be sure to tell the tribunal if I get to that stage. He has refused a letter to uni confirming my illness! Which is creating problems. MY GP refuses as not his place as he says.
I have spoken to other patients of his in my group and they ALL have the same issue with DLA reports, 4 in the same boat in appealing all cause he gave a poor report.0
