Barclays - Transfer Funds

I logged in to Barclays to transfer funds to another savings account elsewhere.
This, I've done many times and for much higher amounts than I just applied to do.

I received the message below. Anyone else experienced this?

It's not happened to me with my Barclays account (although it has with Lloyds), but if it's a payment template that you've used before the only explanation is that your activity raised a red flag against the anti-fraud logic in their payment system.

It could be related to anything (and they won't tell you what) - how you logged in, where you logged in from, did you log in many times in quick succession before making the payment, did you process other less usual transactions previously, etc, etc.

I guess the more banks become liable for fraudulent activity (whether actual or alleged) over their customers accounts, the happier they become to inconvenience their customers to prevent it.

Could be any of the reasons mulronie listed, or just a random money-laundering check. Bankers must be petrified after the recent HSBC fine and probably are overdoing their checks in the wake of it.

Oh well, it is for my safety I suppose.

I'd soon have 'shouted' if my account had been hacked & funds removed.

Happened to me after I had exceeded the CHAPS limit a couple of times in a row, it went through on the scheduled date without any problems
