Compare the Market, really ?

May be old hat, but. Having filled all details and got a screen full of prices for home and contents insurance, I plumbed for the cheapest listed. This was the only offer that came under my renewal with exsisting company, but worth having I thought. Anyway, went through the screens and contacted supplier to then see the price went from £197 to £ 240 on the 'buy' screen. I was told that it sometimes rounds up or down and I was unlucky it rounded up. By over £ 40, that's some round up!

I too learnt to my cost not to trust Compare the market for insurance. When I recently moved and on the look out for a new contents policy, I chose AA after it coming up the 2nd cheapest on the comparison site.
However, when I phoned AA to take out the policy, the actual cost was far higher than that quoted online & I was told by the telephone sales assistant that the comparison site is not to be relied on as it only gives a very basic indication of what a policy may cost and often lists extras as being included, which actually are not.The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0
