Talk talk have a really good offer (apparently) at present for tv, broadband and phone. I used them a few years ago and in my area they weren't very good in terms of speed and dropouts. I live in the Kendal Cumbria area and should be grateful if anyone in the Kendal Cumbria area who currently has Talk Talk could advise whether they've improved at all this past couple of years? I have checked the website that records people's speeds but there isn't a lot of guidance on there for my area. Thanks for any help you can give.

The line speed depends on your individual line (primarily on your distance from the exchange), and also on the physical condition of your line. What someone else 'in the area' gets is not relevant. Presumably TT is available LLU on your exchange?
What does the speedtest indicate that you will get?
The YouView service does not require you to contract to TalkTalk, you can buy it independently with no subscription. No free lunch, and no free laptop
