Tried to switch from British Gas, now asking me to switch back and offering £150
Hello all,
About a month ago, I requested (via Money Supermarket) to switch from British Gas to npower. I haven't heard from npower yet, but I have been receiving calls from British Gas. They told me that from their details that I would only be saving £14 by switching (Money Supermarket said it would be more like £120). British Gas have offered me £100 to switch back, to cover the extra I would have saved, even though according to them I would only save £14!? They have also offered me an additional £50, to cover the cancellation fees (which are actually £60 if I remember correctly, although the £100 they offered earlier would cover that!)
So I am just asking for advice really, has anyone else experienced this? It does sound like a good deal but also sounds too good to be true! The tariff I would be switched back to is Clear and Simple. I'm not sure how good a tariff this is - their Online Variable seems to be cheaper but has a cancellation fee, unlike Clear and Simple.
Any advice would be very much appreciated!
Thanks
Karen
