Butlins-Skegness, anyone been recently???

Just wondered how it has changed since I last went 5 years ago. I did do a day trip last summer and we had a good time but wondered what it would be like with a 7 year old, 2x4 year olds and 2x20 months old.
Be realistic with me on costs too please... planning on having a good brekkie in the chalet everyday and then maybe cooking twice when we are there. How much spends will I need for the week for the 7 of us(kids, hubby and me)???

Also are the silver appartments much cop?

I can't help you much on costs as we went half board, but we stayed in a silver apartment and we thought it was lovely. Only thing was that it had stairs from the front door to the rooms, so we had to put the clothes airer across to stop our then toddlers from falling/getting down them.

As you probably know, the funfairs are a godsend, and will save you loads of money with the kids spending lots of time there. Drinks in the venues are very expensive, even the kids ones.

Hope that helps, from a once only twin mum!

Not been since last October but absolutely love Butlins to bits.

There will be plenty to do for the kids, lots of activities and shows, and if you can sneak off for a few hours you can spend some chill out time in the spa.

Think the Silver accommodation is quite nice, more than adequate, but if you can stretch to it, I can highly recommend the Gold. Good accommodation, an earlier check in time with your own reception/ customer services area, and the restaurant is excellent.
No idea how much you'll need to take moneywise, you certainly have to pay for a lot more than you did twenty years ago (I've been going there all my life!). I would say though that the things you pay for are more for older children.

I used to work at Butlins Skeg, so if you have any specific questions I'll try to help.

Alternatively, you could post on the messageboard at https://www.butlinsmemories.com ... there is nothing they don't know about Butlins! x

    sorry to but in
i am getting married on july the 21st and we would love to take the kids to butlins on our honeymoon (we have always promised but never had the money) we won't have much money and won't have any until july.
i was wondering if any of you know how likely we would be to get a last minute booking at skeggy and whether the prices would be cheaper. thanks :D

Summer holidays are very busy at Butlins I'm afraid, and certainly used to be booked solid.

If you can't book until the last minute it is often worth ringing the centre direct (Skegness 01754 762311) to see if they can fit you in (especially under the circumstances!). Sometimes, even if they can't accommodate you for a full week or 4 night break, they may have two or three nights available.
