lafragrance.co.uk? Help :(

Hi there this is my first post and I'm not even sure if it's in the correct place. I placed an order an order with lafragrance.co.uk on 2 Dec and apart from 2 immediate automated emails confirming the order, I haven't had any more contact nor received the goods. I also received an email from moneybookers.com at the time, confirming payment, and a subsequent reminder email from moneybookers on the 6th. I have tried 3 times to contact the company (email, live chat message and via the contact form on the site) but have not had a reply. No tel. numbers are available from the site, and the company information gives an individual's name and an address which appears to be a residential address. I paid by debit card. I'm not really sure how to proceed, or who could possibly help me. I don't have any firm evidence of being scammed, just a bad feeling and can't find any other info. about this company online. I feel quite helpless - the order was a high value one (to me) and was a Christmas present. I would be very grateful for any advice, thank you.

Contact your bank, ask for disputes department and get a chargeback for non reciept.
I take it that its now 15 days since it debited.

  • Thank you very much, I will contact my bank asap and do this.

Would be grateful too if anyone would be prepared to have a look at the site for any obvious signs of it being not legitimate. Thank you in advance.

Looking at the WhoIs information shows that the site was registered in September of this year, so that would worry me.

The contact details are the same as the registrants details, but no phone number is given.

Their terms & conditions indicate that all prices include VAT - but there is no VAT number displayed on the site, so I would query whether they are really VAT registered.

It's a toss up between whether it is a scam or a small time business operating from the owners spare bedroom, but I don't think I would use them (particularly as the couple of prices I checked aren't much better than other more established retailers).
  • Hi thank you for checking it out. I've raised a dispute so fingers crossed.
  • Unfortunately, I have a similar problem with lafragrance.co.uk.
I placed the order on 5 Jan 2013 and ....that's it. I paid with my credit card, Amex. I guess I am going to contact them today and tell them that I didn't receive the goods.
