Ebay Postage Fee

Ebay recently included the postage cost amongst how much you make after selling an item, in the fees! And now this leaves me confused as to how much percentage they take off the postage. I know they take 15% in fees all in, so does anyone know how much they take off the postage amongst this 15% mess?

They did this because some sellers charged high postage prices, more than the item itself in order to escape their fees. I find this highly unfair, as the rest of us who always give fair prices, suffer for the greed of others.

    Sorry, I'm slightly confused:

    I'm guessing you're a private seller, in which case:

    eBay UK take 10% of the final sale price excluding postage.

    Paypal take a few percent of the entire transaction, including postage.

    One other possibility is that you are listing on eBay's US website, rather than eBay's UK website, because in the US, eBay do indeed charge a final fee on the entire transaction, including postage.

  • I know sorry, it is rather confusing!

    Ahright, thanks for that information :) Good to hear the 10% from ebay excludes postage.

    I'm using eBay UK.

    Have been able to work it all out now, cheers :beer:

    You won't be far wrong if you use 15% as a guide in total (ebay + paypal).

    Did you perhaps list something on the US site, where they do take fees on postage?

  • I am a small private seller and my fees work out at

    ebay = 10% of final value of item excluding postage
    paypal = 0.034% of total transaction + 20p

    but that is without listing fees
    So you're Red John? I have to say I'm a little disappointed.
