Closing down ESA to start JSA?

I posted here a few weeks ago about my situation. I made a JSA claim, broke down in the job centre due to anxiety and was advised to claim ESA instead. I did but due to my qualifying tax years, I want to transfer to JSA before the tax years change in the new year. I already have my ATOS questionnaire but I know I won't get any points at a medical. JSA, although freaking me out, is the right way to go.
So, I have been on ESA since 19th November and received one payment. My medical note was for one month. I know I need to ring them to ask when my medical note expires and when the next payment date is. Is closing my claim as simple as telling them on the phone that I want to? Presumably I can't make an online JSA claim with an ESA claim running?
If at all possible, I want to make my JSA claim so late in December that I don't get an appointment until January. I'm at family for Christmas and don't want to shell out a fortune that I don't have to travel back home. I don't want to end up missing a week cos I get the timing wrong.
I've never been on ESA before so don't know how to close it and what, if anything I need to say. Any tips?
