I really really hate that competations all seem to run on Facebook with NO alternatives! I also hate to "register" to join a competation.

Set up a Facebook account with no photos, friends or personal information on and use that for competitions.
Companies don't want to just give things away for free so they want you to register so they get something out if it!This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Contact the company that's running the competition and let them know your feelings and that you won't be entering.
Also, if you're a customer, tell them you'll take your business elsewhere if they don't allow non-Facebook and non-Twitter customers to enter their competitions.0 -
Seems everyone is doing it. Even Phones4U.Set up a Facebook account with no photos, friends or personal information on and use that for competitions.

The point of registering is that they then send you regular e-mails in the hope you'll buy something. That's why they run competitions in the first place. So set up a separate e-mail to filter these.
What annoys me is when they want you to not just "like" but "share" so that you are now advertising them to all your FB friends.
I find more comps are moving to Twitter now because they can do the same by asking you to re-tweet. Since I don't Twit - I pass on these.I need to think of something new here...0 -

just don't want to register an account with the site of whoever's running the comp. I know Tech Radar requires a techradar account to enter. "Character is a journey, not a destination"--Bill Clinton
