Vent: Very/collect+ Problems, am I free of them?

Been with Very for around 3 years, no problems then I ordered some boots in Sept from the online website to be collected from the local shop via collect+ and was too ill to get them a week later, so emailed to notify and was assured that they would be returned by the shop automatically and I would not be charged. Thing was - the shop NEVER returned them and I got the debts, made around 20 phone calls to catalogue checking at every point saying 'you have charged me for something I DO NOT have'. Eventually I was advised to attempt to collect the boots from the shops myself (this was after several weeks), so I did and was handed them straight away. I returned them to Very, got the items refunded but still had interest on account for 2 payments missed. I rang today to get this all sorted and asked - can you make sure this hasn't affected my credit record. Again I was assured it hadn't but I DON'T believe them. Apart from being appalled at the situation and having loads of stress from it all and call costs, they have mostly lied all the way. About a third of the people I have spoken to seemed to be honest, the rest I think, just fobbing me off. As one of the nice staff said, 'all this for a 2 pairs of reasonably priced boots'. That price £15 in total.
Can anyone advise me if there is there a number at Very that I can call to check my credit is ok (NOT normal customer number), or a head office name address to complain to, as I can't find a suitable one anywhere online, so many names and different postcodes. I don't want to go and buy something and find I have bad credit because of them - after 20 years of good credit.
I have asked for my account to be closed because of this mess, wether it has been is another story. IU DO NOT recommend them at all.
Thanks

Isn't collect plus just like a delivery address? Once very have delivered to your specified delivery address I would have thought it was your responsibility to collect and return? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I don't understand why you didn't go to the shop to see if they were there when it became clear they hadn't been returned rather than wasting time on phone calls and letting charges build up.:j0

I must also point out the charges were minimal (50p) as they aknowledged it was all their error, thats been cleared but I'm worried about my credit record, hence my post. The reason I didn't go to the shop was because Very told me they were chasing it up, at one point saying they were sending someone to collect it themselves. I considered collecting it, even my hubby suggested collecting it and it was in the back of my mind, but didn't want to jeopdise the situation, also it would have been at my expense (petrol) which in the end it was anyway but I was trying to get Very to do something and they promised in every call I made they would do something all a long and it wasn't a problem, hence my gradual realisation I was being lied to as nothing was done, until the helpful call center person said go for collecting it yourself, even she said, you shouldn't have to. If I knew then what I know now about the situation, I would have handled it differently.
Collect+ is just a point of delivery, there was a time window in which you were supossed to collect and I thought that after that time I wouldn't be allowed to collect it. I did email Very at the time to say I couldn't collect the parcel (as mentioned in my post) and they assured me it wasn't a problem and it would automatically be returned. Yes it was the shop who was at fault of course, my hubby went into the store to collect for me and didn't say anything to them, he was too surprsed it wa actually still there. But Very handled the situation appallingly and I was blamed and charged for the shops error.
