Buyer can't pay?

This afternoon I sold a buy it now item for just under £250. It was 6 days into a 10 day listing. I had 6 watchers and sold a similar item a week ago under similar circumstances to a satisfied buyer.
Within the hour I receive a message in text speak which went along the lines of 'soz, wnt clear me crd, you ned to relist.' Buyer had feedback of 3.
Apparently I can't start npb until next week. Should I simply relist or is there any other action?

Was there a buyer just below the person who could not pay? If there was them email them immediately offering the item and explain that the winning bidder will not pay.....
Yes you have to wait a week for npb but if the above works out it will be done and dusted by then....0 -
Thanks for the thoughts but unfortunately I the item was buyit now only.
I have written a fiesty response to the buyers email but have yet to press send. I guess giving them your ten penneth worth won't really help.Blitzkreig Bob says Hi to those checking his validity!0 -
Someone bought a camper van from me last night, winnning bid of £2700, straight after auction sent email saying she'd collect on Saturday - this morning an email to say oops she had accidentally won another van closer to her home could she back out, I replied to say blah blah - ebay have rules and procedures in place so this kind of incident shouldn't happen, you shouldn't have bid on two items of this sort of money etc - she replied very apologetic and is colecting it on Saturday. I was just going to do a mutual withdrawl, but my dad said no, say the above and to my suprise, the camper is going! So why not speak your mind?! You never know.0

With a reply like that you're fighting a losing battle. And if you somehow get them to pay you can guarantee there'll be trouble along the way - item not received, not as described, etc etc. Best just get your fees back and start again. (Don't forget to add them to your blocked bidders list!)0

Looking at their initial message to you, I doubt you're going to get much sense from this numpty.0

You could always ask them to cover your listing fees as you will only get the FVF back from ebay. On a BIN of £250 they'll not be cheap! You never know, they might agree to it! Just be nice to them until you have them back!!:j30/7/10:j

I've already been a little short with them but did discard my initial rant. Was worth leaving a little time to calm down.
I did read that if I sold the item after relisting I would get the listing fee refunded. Don't know the mechanics of this. I wonder if I'll have to wait until the npb business is sorted out, which won't be best quick. Need the money now really, expensive time of year for us.Blitzkreig Bob says Hi to those checking his validity!0 -
Since ebay count the item as sold, it won't qualify for a refund of listing fees if it sells the second time unless you wait until the NPB process is ompleted first.0

I suspected as much. Wish the people that ran ebay read these pages to see how some of their customers behaved. In effect any numpty can scupper a seller with little thought to the consequences. Have had several this year, including those that pay heaps for a mobile and then want it sent with the promise of payment when tracking number is given, (a mate actually fell for this) and it puts me off my selling.
Seems one sided on the buyers side, having said that I bought an item of clothing last week (good bargain), paid and have had no response from seller despite sending them 3 messages, only £7.50 but more money to chase.Blitzkreig Bob says Hi to those checking his validity!0
