When I was in your position moving to a property with prepayment meters, British Gas were the only ones who would change the meters for free. I called all the suppliers to check. It was a couple of years ago now but I can't imagine that any of them have become more generous.

They made a pig's ear of it but I eventually got them chanaged. While it was all ongoing I asked for one of the online payment gizmos and never did receive it. Oh until a couple of weeks ago when one arrived in the previous tenant's name!

Equigas is Ebico the company I mentioned in my post earlier. It costs exactly the same no matter what payment method you use. You can switch to Ebico now and start saving. They will charge £52 to change each meter from prepayment to credit but you won't save anything.
    :footie:
:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

So I see. EDF and Eon also will change the meters for free. That's very good news and certainly very new.
