I was told there was going to be redundancies at our factory on the 2nd of december, there was to be a consultion period until the 31st of december, the manager said he wanted to see me on the 3rd of december to discuss how the consultion period would work, when I went to the meeting he told me I had been made redundant and could leave that day on so called gardening leave or work till the end of the month, so they had made their decision before the consultion period, can they do this ? .

They have done it.
How many redundancies are involved? And on what basis have you been selected for redundancy?0 -
There are 4 redundancies involved, the basis I was selected was they are going to use couriers instead of drivers, which I was one of two drivers involved, the other driver also lost his job.0

Yep, sorry, the can do that. Only four redundancies means there is no minimum consultation period and honestly - the work is gone, there are no drivers. It's a redundancy without question. They should now look at whether there is any alternative employment which you may be able to do. It would be a good idea if you look too - see if there are jobs that you could do that are available and would avoid the redundancy.0
