artex replastering

Hi am doing up a house which has some artexing.

Its only small and looks like its been done more with a paint brush dabbed at randonm spots.

can i just plaster over it?

Do i need to mix in 1 in 5 parts pva?

Any hjelp would be great thanks,

    Had mine done by a plasterer. He used a scraper to take the high points off the artex and get it very roughly level. Brushed on PVA/water mix (as per side of the container), let it dry overnight then skimmed over the top.

    Consider when scraping off artex, ASBESTOS!!!!! Lots of info posted on this site.

    is it ok to do that as it may contain asbestos.

    THere are only little peaks so just do the worst ones i suppose?

    Hey cargo. how much do you think it would cost per room for a plasterer to do this? i REALLY want my Artex SORTED in my house. Rooms are about 20 sqm max. Stupid question but does it make a lot of mess? We've just put down realwood oak flooring :-(

    You could be looking at around the £200-£250 mark,and as for mess,it can be a little messy but i always use dust sheets.
