Christmas Dessert ideas for large family

Merry Christmas all!!

It's so exciting there are only 8 days to go. However, I have been
tasked with making desserts for 16 people and need some ideas from you lovely people.
I came up with a couple - lemon tart and profiteroles but was hoping you may be able to come up with some different or better ideas?

They cant be individual desserts such as creme brule or pannacotta as you cannot guarantee everyone will want one and also nothing related to Xmas pudding/mince pies. I'm also trying to refrain from the hot puddings as I think after a full dinner it might too much.

All ideas are greatly appreciated!!

I'm presently drooling over a dessert in a Waitrose tv ad. :D

Needless to say Waitrose don't have a big footprint in Scotland and the branches that are here, are nowhere near me.

This snippet of information does not help you in the slightest OP, I just wanted to say I shared your pudding angst. :rotfl:

What about Malteser cheesecake? No cooking, and can be made in advance.

I use 500g/600g cream cheese, 300g of double cream, icing sugar, and crushed up Maltesers. Leave some Maltesers whole for the top decoration. For the base, go for a combination of digestives and ginger biscuits, and maybe add a little grated orange to the cream mixture. That's what we're having for pudding after our Christmas meal.
  • Ice cream slice? Buy a tub of cheap vanilla, let it melt a little bit and mix in whatever you like (we usually do meringue and strawberries) but could be anything (chocolate, nuts, ameretti biscuits, glace fruits) then pop into a lined loaf tin (I usually zigzag melted chocolate onto this so it looks nice when you turn it out) then freeze until needed and serve in slices :)

Black forest trifle. Slices of choc Swiss roll in bottom of bowl. Layer of cherry pie filling, then chocolate custard, then cream. Top with crumbled flake

Slightly more decadent than the standard birds trifle

We had this sticky toffee before and we will be having it again this year as so far I am feeding 19 in one sitting! All my children and husband/wives plus lots of grandchildren. First time we are all together for christmas since children came along. So excited. We will have other desserts but this will be my contribution to desserts.
