We never have a roast dinner on a Sunday due to the kids' sports.
For years we had a Tuesday dinner instead but as they get older and have different commitments we just have it whenever we can.

I don't religiously roast on a Sunday, it all depends on who's here, what's in the fridge and the time I have available.

This Sunday it's likely to be a home made soup and a fresh loaf or a pasta bake as both DD's are out for the majority of the day.

Christmas eve will be cheese fondue with various dunky things. Christmas day will be turkey, beef and gammon and all the trimmings, boxing day will be cold meats, pickles and mash and the rest of the week will be left overs in various guises. I love this time of year for the throw together of meals.

Now I have a mental image of a chicken wearing a dog collar and crucifix with you genuflecting over the carrots.....
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

i am thinking of making Shepherd pie with a cheesey topping, still with some veg but different to the usual roast.

Christmas Eve will be buffet bit and bobs and rack of lamb on Christmas Day for DS and OH, OH is working this year so just the 3 of us for a late dinner. Boxing Day will probably have family for tea so have a joint of beef to cook and maybe will get a gammon to cook the day after as OH and DS on leave from the 28th until the 2nd so will need loads to pick on

...would be a money saving way to do it, otherwise it's two roasts in a week.

or is Sunday not Sunday without a roast?

We often don't do a roast on sunday anyway :).
TBH we are having a few posher meals over the festive period, but will space them out with more basic ones (partly cost but also not to overdo it as I have a sensitive tummy).
FIL is bringing the (cooked) meat for Christmas, I also have some other meats and will be making all the trimmings but we will do it buffet style! I also seeing dentist on Fri, depending on what she does (if anything) my diet may change :eek::eek::eek:.

Mmm, my kind of menu (except for roast beef, though my hubby loves it so I cook it for him sometimes). :)

I'm quite happy to eat 2 roasts in a week but then again i'm not paying for either :)

I rarely make sunday dinner as the inlaws always invite us there when i do it's usually a gammon or pork shoulder as these are both alot cheaper than beef.
