Joint kids christmas present HELP PLEASE :)

Hi, my oh has a huge family (10 brothers and sisters) they are all married with between 3- 5 kids each and every year we all just buy each family a tin of chocolates. Now i hate doing this as the kids get enough chocolate in my eyes and last year i was super savy and managed to get them all pj's for less than £3 a child, this year though we are an even tighter budget as we are getting married after christmas so i was thinking of another thing i could get as a joint present - between £5-7 each family. I thought of a family type game but one family the childrens ages are from 13 - 2 years so im after some ideas please!!! Any help at all would be greatly apprecaited - but to top things off as well ive sprained my foot and cant drive so i am going to have to do it all online and hope for deliverys before christmas!!
Thanks

If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.

Depends on the ages there are inbetween, but how about Pumpazing?

£1 over budget, but I think you'd have a job to get a family game for much less, unless you're happy with second hand.

I would guess this is aimed at the smaller children (says 4+), but our eldest is nearly 9 and thinks it looks really cool on TV. So pushing your luck with a 13 year old, but might be ok.

Hot Potato is my favourite game for all ages, everyone loves it.

Twister is a good one for all ages.

For families with older kids I noticed that House of Fraser online had Trivial Pursuit Let Loose on DVD for £1.99, mixed reviews though.

How about a Christmas CD box set the family can listen to over the festive period. This one is good:

Or a nice Christmas DVD they can all watch together.

Or just a lottery ticket for the Christmas draw inside the family card.

The other thing I thought of was Top Trumps. Could try and get a theme that suited all ages (football? Star Wars?) or if you found them cheap enough could get two packs per family which would give you more room to manouver (e.g. Peppa Pig _and_ Formula One).

Thanks for that, I have never heard of it before but have just ordered one.
  • I'm in a similar situation so any ideas would be great!
  • How about a 'wasgij' the jigsaw puzzles where you don't have the picture t help you? We got a couple last year as family gifts and everyone really enjoyed them. There are even a couple where you get three different sized puzzle pieces - big bits for the kids, small bits for the adults and middle sized for everyone to do together.

I did a similar thing homemade a few years ago.

I bought one of these second hand: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Guess-Who-Game-MB-Games-/150962833006?pt=UK_Toys_Games_Games&hash=item232616066e&_uhb=1

I then spent a couple of pounds getting small photo's (you can do this on the booths in Boots for example) of family members and friends and I replaced all of the existing "cards" of faces with these pictures.

It was really fun as you could ask silly questions rather than the standard "do they have glasses" to get to the right answer.

Probably cost me about 4-5 pounds but was something unique!

  • thanks guys for the tips, i think i might go with the pumpazing for the bigger family with the biggest age gaps, and then ive found 2 games for £6 on tesco for the ones with younger kids and im just gonna get them all one of those tubes of sweets to go with it. I like the DVD idea aswell so im using this for my friends who i was struggling with, going to get them a dvd and make up a "night in" hamper with popcorn and chocolate and a bottle of wine :)
