me and my partner are looking to rent a new home. we have a little girl and we want a bit more space for her. we have been looking at a few properties but I the administration charges are putting us off as we cant see how they can charge the sums they ask for basically doing there job. we have been quoted from £150 to £250. is there anything that can be done to avoid this as last time we moved there was none of these fees.

You can try and negotiate them down but their answer may well be that if you don't pay them someone else will.
These fees are now illegal in Scotland, here's hoping the rest of the UK catches up; unfotunately with the lack of rental accommodation around at the moment they'll just add it onto something else.0 -
The best way to avoid them is to ask the agent what they charge before viewing any of the properties on their books and then only view with the cheaper agents.
Have you tried to find a landlord direct? (Gumtree etc.).0 -

Unfortunately OP the only way to avoid these fees is to try looking privately - in the newspaper, gumtree etc£2 Savers Club #156!
