Edf tariff coming to an end.

Hello, I looking for some help before I scream! I'm currently with EDF on Energy Discount V5 duel fuel, direct debit. This is coming to an end on the 31st of December. So like normal I went on to the comparison sites but when I put that tariff in the standing charge and per kWh is different to what I am currently paying so the comparison always comes out wrong.

Currently my chargers are
Elec - 12.04 per kWh 13.65 standing charge
Using 2758kWh per year
Gas - 3.57per kWh 21.45 standing charge
Using 9761kWh per year
My bill comes to 790.08 with DF, DD discounts included.

Can anyone help not sure how to work out the cheapest deal for me. When I put my details at the moment it comes up with sainsbury price check jan 2014 is the cheapest.
Any help would be most appreciated :)

    Hi cloud
Yes I input your details into energyhelpline using my postcode and first utility came out cheapest and Sainsburys Jan 2014 was next saving about £58. I think the feeling on this site is to give First utility a miss so Sainsburys could be for you (but having second thoughts now), they use British gas as the supplier.

As to why the comparison sites show a different unit rate could be because EDF increased their prices on 7 Dec and the sites will show the new rate, are you looking at the old rate?

Edit just looked a bit deeper into the Sainsburys tariff, it tracks the cheapest standard tariff so is basically a standard tariff! So do not know why it comes out second cheapest unless it is tracking a tariff eg EoN that has not yet gone up yet. In the comparison there are plenty more suppliers showing a smaller saving.

Ah that makes sense I am looking at the prices on a bill which came in on November. The other thing which I was worried about is switching as this tariff ends this month so during the change over will I go on to EDF's standard rate?

If your tariff is soon to end, a lot of comparison sites use the "standard tariff" as that is what you will revert to. This should account for the difference between what you currently pay and what is quoted by the comparison sites.
