for a while now ive been wondering if im being charged wrong with my electric.

i rang british gas and they say everything is ok.

i have 12 solar panels, im on prepayment. economy 7. my heating has not been on since march 2012. i use a laptop, 42inch tv,xbox and a media centre pc.

my washer is on twice a week and dryer twice a week.
my energy consumption was rated at 7244.46 kwh for the year

2 adults 2 kids in household

theres no way this can be right can someone give me some advice on if this sounds right.

oh and the meter has no debt on it

thanks

Assuming you have no gas for heating and hot water, 7,244kWh is very low.

Presumably the 12 solar panels are PV panels?

pv panels yes. i have not had any heating on at all since march and its not on now. no gas supply.
  • Just checked mine.....4322kwh used in a year. This is just electric. Our heating is gas and comes in at 7541kwh. If you've no gas and just electric the fact heating not used since march, remember the cost of heating from dec-mar will have been in that. secondly heating your water can be as much as 3kw to be sufficient on electric, this is probably where most of your costs have gone.
  • How do you heat the house?

It was quite cold recently so i'm curious how you stay warm?

    What about your hot water?

Unless your living in another country I can't see how your not using heating. Electric fires/convection blow heaters are heaters btw.

Perhaps an idea is to monitor the usage yourself. I check mine every week.

    As above...take weekly meter readings.

You haven't considered your electricity costs for cooking.

I'm with British Gas and had panels installed months ago. I applied for FIT in early October, no acknowledgement even. I notified them me meter was running backwards and got no cooperation about installing a new one. I have full records of past electricity use. If there is any more funny business from British Gas I shall be complaining to the regulator and giving the case full publicity here.
