I have just balanced our budget for the month. I have found that I am quite a bit short already since we have been overspending on groceries plus an error in math made me realize I am more in the hole than I had known before. Has this happened to you and how do you overcome the feeling of being poor in spirit?

By not being materialistic , it matters not how much money I have after 13 years together my wife still makes me feel like the wealthiest man in the world

(((((Craigywv))))) sorry to hear about your DH's redundancy, I hope that he will find something better soon and I am sure that a fantastic OSer like you will come up trumps in this challenge. Take care, sending you and your family my best wishes. x

  • I have a roof over my head (many do not)
    Food in the cupboard (ditto)
and best of all the love of my family and my gorgeous grandchildren who between the seven of them make my life well worth living.I lost my best friend and husband nine and a half years ago, and then went through a nasty bout of breast cancer where, what with the mastectomy operation, and the following chemo and r/therapy I wasn't sure at times if I would make it, but I was determined to fight the filthy rotten disease as much as I could.
I am now four and a half years into remission and next June, God willing, I will get the all-clear.Things like your health, and your loved ones are the most important things in life .You won't starve, you won't got thirsty, and hopefully you will have a dry roof over your head, the rest is just trimmings .Ok so your broke and cheesed off .We have all been there at some point, and it seems that the light at the end of the tunnel is barely flickering but you will get through it and come out the other side a stronger person.

I can remember back in the early 1970s when the three day working week was in force and the lights were going out all over the country and no one knew where the next penny was coming from ,sitting in my then kitchen at Dartford working out how many slices of bread I had to get me through till payday and would my OH even get paid that week or not.Little or no credit then, or the availability to get some as we were so skint, but we survived and as a family we stuck it out and gradually things got better for us.Once it was so cold in the kids room there was ice on the inside off the windows and we all ended up on the put-u-up sofa in the front room as it was warmer there and I piled as many blankets and coats on top of us as I could :)No duvets in those days either:) and I told the girls we were seeing if we would like camping in the summer :):)We all snuggled together to keep warm and we all survived ok.
If you have kids give them a big cuddle, and if you have an OH give him one too, as cuddles and hugs go a lot further than anything else.
    Good luck
JackieO xx old,and at times a bit clapped out, but still alive and kicking :):)
