Hi
I've bought 13 year old DD a Blackberry Playbook for Xmas. Hoping for some advice on what she does after she switches it on - no doubt by 7.30 on Xmas morning! Or will it be obvious? She has a Blackberry so will be wanting to link them.
Any ideas on best apps , etc and general help gratefully received!

Bought the playbook from Currys, and got Norton anti virus with it..... just read on another website that this doesn't actually work with the playbook. Anyone know about this?

Thank you!

There isn't much to do with it, just switch it on and follow the guide, you do know your Wifi password right??

It may want to conduct a software update once it is connected.

Norton - I don't think Norton support RIM anyway, frisbee the disk up the garden (you didn't pay for it did you?).
  • Download this App onto your phone and Playbook http://appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/content/19435/?lang=en it's free.

As well as using WiFi this App allows you to link the Playbook through the phone so you can always be online even if WiFi isn't available. It uses the phones data allowance, Blackberry compresses their data so there shouldn't be any danger of her going over.

Take the Norton AntiVirus back, regardless of whether you have opened it. It was mis-sold to you.

As for the PB, make sure that you have run the Updates so that you have the latest version of the OS. Then she can Bridge the two. Then she can also use the phone as a keyboard and remote control.
As for Apps, they are a personal choice. She'll have to create a BlacKBerry ID to get into App World to take a look. If she is 'savvy' there are few extra that she can install via 'Side loading'....such as the Kindle App.
Lots of storage for films, music and photos.

Thanks for replies......I took Norton anti-virus back to Currys today. Nice man laughed and said 'I don't know who sold you that?' He was going to refund £5 on to my card, but I hadn't taken the card I'd paid with, so he couldn't. After a bit of umming and aahing he said I could have the leather case as a swop....so I was happy!
