I don't think people are weirdo snobs because they object to the current fashion for naming a cross-breed a combination of the two breeds?

Most people couldn't care less if your dog is a cross between two known breeds, or a cross between two cross-breeds of many varieties (mongrel), or indeed if it's a specific breed. It's the fad for giving them a name that people find silly. And as a consequence of that, the people that breed specific mixes and put a premium price on them.

It's possibly a good thing to encourage mixed-breeds, at least in my fairly uninformed opinion of the health issues of many breeds. But it's a fashion, and for money making, it's not being done for altruistic reasons.
