Tk maxx gift card issue since Friday!!!

I just posted this to the tk maxx Facebook site as i have tried twice since Friday to use a valid gift card and have been told of a global issue.

"Hi tkmaxx and it's customers. Been in tk maxx twice since Friday trying to purchase something using a gift card and told due to a global issue nobody can redeem a gift card in store. I find this quite concerning just before Xmas and that their IT department arnt on this issue but apparently IT don't work Sunday's. This was the Bristol cribs causeway store.....so all you tk maxx lovers beware if you can't currently redeem vouchers I wouldn't go buying them AT ALL..."

Thought would let you all know! I ended up having to pay debit card!

You can't be surprised the IT department dont work Sundays. I would assume very little of txmax's head office staff work weekends.

Still it sounds very annoying

It might be worth contacting the head office tomorrow and explain what happened and that you had to use a debit card for your purchases.
Ask them if because of the problems, they would consider refunding the cost of the card in cash.

I doubt if they would, but you never know.

If it blocks the chain from taking money world-wide, you betcha the IT department will work Sundays. Really bizarre, sounds like an excuse/misdirection to me.

I work in an IT department for a major retailer and they would not make you work Sunday for something like this. Someone will have been called to investigate but I would guess they use a 3rd party software package for gift cards and they probably won't be available until Monday.

Also they've already taken the cash for the gift card so they won't be losing money.

Not sure if linked or not but TK Maxx in Exeter were having problems with card payments today. IT systems down so could only put cash through the tills. They were taking card payments but doing them the old style manual way, queues were massive!!

Someone would be called to try and fix that!
