Extending loft hatch & adding a ladder

I'd like to be able to make use of our loft to store boxes of stuff we never/rarely use (Christmas decorations, scrapbook and old stuff, possibly some books etc.).
Thing is, the hatch i currently only just big enough for a person to get through; maybe 2ft x 1ft max. - boxes just won't fit through.
Just wonder how much I could expect to pay to enlarge the hole a bit, and add a ladder and fold out hatch. Once that's done, I'm happy enough nailing down some planks to create a better surface to stack things on. It's not going to be a room, no light, power or heat - just want it to be more serviceable.

It's a days work for a Couple if blokes so allow £500 including the ladder.

A little more than I hoped, but still seems reasonable. Thanks.

Loft ladder cost £130-00 upwards,4x2 timber to trim opening £10-00 and labour should be no more than 1 day for 1 man so roughly £200-00 labour.

Should easily be done for £375-00

We had ours moved, extended and a great ladder fitted they guys also boarded the floor for us - just rough ply board over all the loft, they worked round the beams. Means full loft length storage now which is great. He also boarded old hatch and re plastered the area. Total was about £350 which we were very happy with. We are in the Midlands. This was a local carpenter/ builder a friend recommended, he's since re done the garage door, side gate and side hatch door and fitted a stair rail.

Quoted £180 to fit it if I get materials; £130 ladder plus £10 for wood = £320.
    Thanks very much.
