Barclaycard have wrong name on account

After remarrying approx 5 years ago we sent in the necessary proof or the name change to my wife's a/c.
Unfortunately approximately 18 months later we had to get a DMP in place, we have continuously paid towards that debt amongst others. We now have been told via Payplan that Barclaycard have that debt in a completely different surname ( and its no way connected to us now or previously ).
Barclaycard wish us to send them again documentary proof of her correct surname, where do we stand, I.e can they proof it's hers ? Could the chase her for it if we stopped the payments ? as its their fault.

I cannot see why you are reluctant to send it in again?

Oh, I'd hazard a guess that somebody thinks the debt will mysteriously vanish if they don't play ball.

Of course they will prove its hers.....of course they will chase her for the debt & eventually send the bailiffs. Where do you stand?....well provide the necessary documents.

Blimy, a bank makes a admin error and as a result the debt gets written off? If only it really was that easy to become debt free.
