Hi.. I am not very techy minded :o
I have got a new laptop and it has windows 8 on it
The main thing that I don't like and don't know if any way around is the fact it wants me to use my hotmail password to log in...
I do worry about that getting hacked so change passwords often...
do i really have to use it to log on? my old lappy was vista, and i has a special password...
    ta... wik x

I did take the £14.95 upgrade (another story if you want a clean install!!). I run a multi-boot system.

I understand why some think that 8 will be another Vista (i) I can't see corporates paying the price to retrain staff - I agree there is a steep learning curve. (ii) Older folks who are nervous anyway, will be "frightened" by the difference in appearence - technophiles won't have a problem.

Frankly I don'r understand why MS didn't provide an option to open 8 in a classic mode.

Personally I find 8 annoying, I can find my way around, but with a certain amount of pain. I am currently advising folks used to using XP for example to go to 7.
  • got w8 recently seems complicated compared to other windows I had before, mind I'm no techie head.

Seems to many processes to get to where you want to go, very sensitive on screen functions too.
I'M GETTING USED TO IT THOUGH' I DID PREFER OLD TYPE WINDOWS, I LIKE SIMPLE.
  • Win 8 newbie, when I go to use a web sites email system, computer asks if I want to allow computer to use Microsoft email as it does for most Apps, can I turn off Microsoft email as I don't want or need it?
