New central heating - options?
I had a very quick look at the pages in the forum but can't find any answers for what I'm looking for. I need some advice on getting some new heating system in my flat because it's frickin' freezing in here.
I'm in an oldish flat, no gas connection and a big electric boiler tank. When we moved in a few years ago we replaced the original storage heaters with some new ones. These have both stopped working and were never that good in the first place. There are some thin electric heaters in each room but none of them really heats the room.
I don't really need storage heaters, or a big boiler because I'm not here during the day. I need heating when I get home at night and hot water in the morning. At the moment running plug-in radiators is drinking electricity, costing me a fortune and none of them is powerful enough.
So I guess the question is, what are my options, what do I need? I don't know a lot about the different types. I'm redecorating right now, so if I'm going to put something in, now would be the time. Thoughts?

In case it helps, it's a 3-bed, 2 bath, top floor flat.
If I need to go all out and replace everything, boiler+radiators+storage heaters, I can handle the upfront cost because it will ultimately be cheaper overall.0 -
You've excluded E7 or E10 electric heating and tariff, and there's no gas supply to the building. Would you be permitted to have a gas supply if you were prepared to pay the substantial costs ?
That leaves you with electric core tariff panel systems, or even more expensive electric wet core tariff systems, or portable oil / gas systems. If your current night store system is inadequate not merely because of lifestyle but because of poor or non existent thermal insulation almost any system you buy will inevitably be equally costly. Perhaps some of your budget directed at the real cause of your woes, that of poor insulation, might be a better starting point. At least put that thought into your mix of consideration .Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion.
