Hi
I wanted to make a Raisin Tea loaf like my Mum used to make.
Gathered all the ingredients and realise that I have bought Sultanas by mistake.:o
The recipe is quite simple ,soak raisins and soft brown sugar in cold tea overnight and then add eggs and flour before baking.
Don't want to waste the sultanas ,is it worth trying to use them?
I have my first attempt at a pastry-less quiche in the oven!

It should be fine ... personally I don't like raisins or currants, so I tend to swap these for sultanas and I've never had any disasters0

Last year I got give an absolute LOAD of golden sultanas - they were lovely but I had no idea how I was ever going to get through them. Then I found a recipe online for a tea loaf, and adapted it a bit using golden sultanas, earl grey tea and some mixed peel. It was very good and I got through the sultanas quickly after that as everyone kept asking me for more of the tea loaf!0 -

Oh, dotchas, please can I have the recipe? I've just bagged a Kenwood Chef, and I'm dying to use it!0

You can use any dried fruit - honest
sultanas
currants
dates
prunes
figs
apricots
glace cherries
nuts and seeds would be good too
I guarantee the loaf will taste good and not explode, implode or turn into a brickRecipes are just one person's idea of how to put ingredients together. One of the most important skills in cookery is knowing how to substitute likely ingredients
