NPower being difficult about repaying credit on account
Switched from Npower to EDF in November. I paid a standing order every month and, of course, I was in substantial credit by the time my Npower account was closed. Did they repay this right away, though? Did they chuff.
Have so far sent three messages via their website, telling them I want the money right away, all of which prompted automatic replies assuring me it would be dealt with within a day, and none of which were followed by any repayment.
I just got off the phone with them to arrange repayment and I am assured the payment will go through soon, but a word of caution - be ready to chase them if this happens to you.

when in nov did you switchDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

I'd carry on chasing them, they owed me £275 on my gas account and I owed them £5 for the electricity - they put a stop on repaying my credit until I'd paid the £5... (a phone call sorted that out)0

It does take a while when the account is closed. Conversely, npower normally automatically refund via their computer system if you are more than £60 in credit at the time of your 6 monthly review. It is stated in their T&Cs. I know this as I was £80 in credit going into winter and they annoyingly refunded me.0

Before NPower can do anything EDF have to provide the change of supplier reading. If you started the switch in November it could be the end of the year before the process complete. Call EDF and get the switch date, the final bill should be issued about 3 weeks after that if all goes OK.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.
