Minor accident, what's next ?

No one is a mind reader, you have the other guys address so call round and see him before he informs his own insurance and ask him what route he wants to take. If it goes through the insurance his premiums may rise next year even though he wasnt at fault, if you explain this to him he may agree to take a couple of hundred off you to call it quits.
If you can both agree then its a win win.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0 -
Will I keep my NCB this way ? Is NCB I have since June 2011 worth anything ?
If the insurance company are paying out... whether it's for his car, your car or both cars you loose the NCB.
If this year is building a second year then you should still be able to use the 1 year on your next renewal.0 -

nah, if you make a claim you generally lose 2 years NCB plus none accumulated in the year of accident so the OP would end up with zero ncb at renewal0 -
So if you have 15 years of NCB and you hit by someone else you loose all of it ? I should be happy I have 1.5 year to loose then.Regards,

No,
If you have 15 years no claims and you are hit by someone else and they are at fault your ncb will remain at 15 years
If you have 15 years no claims and you hit someone else (as you have done) and you are at fault (as you are) you will loose 2 years ncb, but most insurers have a maximum number of years ncb that they allocate so the effect will be minimised. If you have protected ncb one event will not affect the discount.0 -
Is the number of years of NCB you loose set out anywhere is does it vary between insurers?0

Is my first year safe or not then ? I'm reading different opinions on that here.Regards,
