It wouldn't be Spark energy or First Utility anyway.

Sainsburys is just British Gas. M&S Energy is Scottish and Southern.
BTW You sure about those consumption figures, do you own a hotel?
As above I'd avoid FU and Spark, so BG, SSE or the Coop.

I considered Spark Energy but had great difficulty finding any independant positive review of them anywhere on the entire internet. In fact spark should probably run a competition for 'Find the Positive Review'

If you look at the review sites, they consistantly have the worst ratings of any of the energy suppliers, along with many scare stories about them hiking prices and upping direct debits to ludicrous amounts, and then making it almost impossible to leave.

The reviews and average rating here pretty much say it all:- http://www.reviewcentre.com/reviews199569.html
    http://www.moneysupermarket.com/c/utilities/suppliers/spark-energy/reviews/26/1/2/1/0/

They have made statements saying that things there will improve etc, but if you look at the date stamps on the reviews and the threads here, you'll see that they haven't

So my own conclusion was to use "Any energy company except Spark" and i'd advise you to do the same, despite their tempting prices.

If sainsbury is basically BG, how come the >£600 saving - I'm with BG at present
  • Sainsburys is an affinity deal that BG have. All the billing, pricing and provision of service will be provided by BG, Sainsburys will promote the Sainsburys Energy brand and take a commission for each customer signed up. Even though it is effectively still BG providing your utilities it's just under a different brand. Think of it as both Ariel and Daz being provided by Proctor & Gamble
  • As mentioned before, do you live in a mansion? Are you sure you use that much gas and electric? Those are way above national averages. Forgive me if I'm speaking out of turn, but just want to make sure you've calculated your figures correctly.

  • Do you want a fixed deal? If so, opt for Ovo.

But if you are not bothered, or don't think the 20% premium you'll be paying for a fixed deal warrants it, then take the Spark Advance.

As mentioned by others, your usage is abnormally high. About 3x as much gas and 4x as much electricity as an average household.
