I recently applied for a ppi claim back on both a personal loan and a credit card. I have received one back got £800 bonus!! But the other said I hadn't provided sufficient evidence that it was mis-sold, unfortunately I don't know which one i got however I was wondering should a loan have been given to me as I had just started a new job and I've read also that ppi should not be sold on unsecured loans? Is this total rubbish or do you think it's worth appealing? At the time I took the loan I wasn't told the ppi was optional and was offered a credit card at the same time, so when the paper work came through for the credit card and I signed for the ppi I did so thinking it was also not an option, my fault for not reading the paperwork through I know, any help would be great fully received. Also thanks to MSE for the advice on claiming without using a company who'd have taken 25% upwards.

Step one, ask them to clarify which complaint the refund was for.
however I was wondering should a loan have been given to me as I had just started a new job and I've read also that ppi should not be sold on unsecured loans? Is this total rubbish or do you think it's worth appealing?
They clearly felt you were sufficiently credit worthy to offer the loan in the first place.

There's no reason why PPI shouldn't be added to an unsecured loan if the person is eligible and if it's a suitable option for them and they agree to it. One of the key factors here would be whether you had any other means of repaying the loan in the event your wages stopped.

It may be that the refund you have been offered is for the loan, so that's what you need to check first.

Then you can look at their reasons for rejecting your other complaint and if you disagree go back and dispute them - or complain to the Financial Ombudsman.
