Combi-boiler help please!

I was in the shower yesterday when the hot water cut out. I quickly realised I'd forgotten to top up the gas meter so I put the card in and turned the gas back on. Sadly, my combi-boiler has developed a fault. I can hear it try to ignite 3 times and then nothing happens. When I press the reset button nothing happens, it doesn't appear to reattempt to light; to do that I need to switch it off and on again at the mains. I'm sure this is a simple solution, connected to the gas running out but I'm at a loss to what else I can do. Can anyone help me or is this a problem for a professional?

Try fully turning it off (gas off/electric off) then restarting0

So how do I turn the gas to the boiler off and on again? What am I looking for?0

Go to your meter and check that there is an "on" symbol on the meter.0

The gas is on and flowing, the cooker works fine so the problem is definitely with the boiler somewhere.0

Silly question, but you didn't turn off the gas under the boiler and forget to turn it back on?
If not you need to call a boiler engineer out.0 -
Could be a bunch of things, modern boilers have lots of trips which prevent the gas from firing up if something is wrong, you really need an engineer to fault find it properly.Out on blue six..
It's Chips and Jackets, Peas and Trousers.0
