After Market Parts okay?
Just had the RAC out as I had a problem with my wee Nissan Micra (1.0, 2002).
He showed me that the air flow sensor was at one time replaced with a generic part and isn't fitting snugly. I have had the car for over 6 months, and this particular part has been fine up until yesterday.
I have contacted our local car parts people and they can get me one for £66 but not until next week.
I found the part I need on ebay and it is £19.95, free delivery.
The seller has excellent feedback but the manufacturer is showing as 'After Market Part'.
Would it be false economy to go for this?
What does it mean?

They are ok if you have no warranty left on your car, if you do have warranty then i think the terms request Original be used.0

Definitely no warranty on my wee car.
Just spoke to another company who does the same part but for quite a bit more. I think the one I found is identical to what he would sell me. He also said that Nissan don't actually sell this part themselves, unless I want to pay the guts of £500 for the whole throttle system! Erm, think I will pass on that one!Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These

Aftermarket parts can be a bit of a lottery, many brand names are specialist and seem a bit obscure and unheard of to the uninitiated but are actually better than original parts in that part category. At the same time you have a lot of crap on ebay that ticks the look & price boxes but lasts 6 months; my personal bad experience was 'uprated' metal drop links replacing the manufacturers plastic ones, the ball joints of which were unacceptably worn by the next MOT.
It's worth posting the question on forums dedicated to the vehicle. Yes there will be one for Nissan Micras.0 -
Good idea. There is a great forum for K11s so will ask on there.Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These

Probably find it'd work fine, but require some "inventive" bodging to get a good fit.
Which is probably what happened previously, for all you know it may have been held in place by masking tape (which subsequently fell off).“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
