Facebook Competitions Trick

Just realised that I can "share on my wall" and customise it so that only I can see the post, this is right? Facebook competitions are so easy so the fact that I don't have to spam people in their newsfeeds is good.

I set all the apps to 'only me' on facebook so that all my friends aren't spammed unnecessarily. Annoyingly the like and share comps tend to have to be shared publicly though so I choose not to enter those :( Wish all companies used apps !

if you don't share publically, then the company cannot see that you have shared so you wont be entered into the draw
:TA big thanks to all who post and sprinkling lucky dust to all who enter :smileyhea

Really? But why should they see my wall :P
So you think doing that would mean that you would not get entered?
  • Thats right. It has to be set to public otherwise you won't be entered.

    Good luck.

Most stuff people put on Facebook is not public, just friends can see it, how do you know about the public setting thing?are you in digital marketing? as a matter of interest Has anyone won anything just sharing "only me" or with "friends"?

When you post anything on Facebook there is a little thingy underneath - if it's public it'll be a world, if it's set to friends only then it'll be two people, and if it's set to only me it'll be a padlock. Nothing special needing, widely available to everyone :o
    Thanks to all posters :A

Yes companies need to see that you have shared publically in order to enter their draw. If your posts are set to private then you are not sharing th comp as no one can see it! If I was you, I would change all the posts you have shared privately to publically otherwise it would have been a waste of your time sharing in the first place because you won't be in wit a chance of winning!

I tag the page in the comment bit as I post it on my wall so that they'll be able to see it ;)
I also set mine to only appear to other compers, that way they're welcome to stalk my wall for any coms they haven't entered and my non-comping friends don't get hacked off.

Ive noticed alot of new compers on facebook do this, Some of the companies actualy state it has to be set to public or they can't see the entry.
    Wishing you all good luck!

Im glad I read this early on... just changed the few comp I entered into public..

GrannyBiker: I have seen the the custome option too on facebook, but I think if that is set, it will no longer be "public"?
