Decent Qaulity but Reasonable Priced Dry Cat Food

Coming to the end of my massive bag of dry food and will need to buy some more.

Any recommendations?

Money is an issue so I guess Zooplus brands are out my reach at the moment, looking at supermarket cat food - any pointers pls?

Thanks a lot

  • Not sure how much your looking to spend, mine are on this http://www.pet-supermarket.co.uk/Products/PCG25/milburns-premium-cat-food-chicken-andamp-rice and are doing great on it. Even my one that randomly gets bald patches, a allergy of some sort. It was on offer 2 bags for just under £30 but unfortunatly is not on offer at the mo.

Can't help on best supermarket brands as my cats are spolit brats and the only dry food they will eat is Royal Canin (option for fussy eaters no less!).

I realise this is entirely my own fault by giving it to them but I do have one cat who would literally eat only tuna or Whiskas Temptations and he was so skinny I would have tried anything. Now all 3 cats are on Royal Canin

I would suggest checking the meat content and other ingredients in the supermarket brands that you are considering to find the best quality for your money.

Big bags generally work out cheaper than the small ones but look out for special offers on the smaller ones - 3 for 2s etc.

Jolleys and Pets at Home often do these types of offer if your cat will eat most types of food.

Thanks - yes, with 4 cats I need big bags anyway.

For the moment ordered Asda Tiger will see how they do on this one.

May order something else (better) and mix tith Tiger, will see.
  • Harringtons looks to be very good value with high meat content etc

    8kg (4 x 2kg) sacks is less than £20 delivered on Amazon, http://www.amazon.co.uk/Harringtons-Complete-Chicken-Rice-Pack/dp/B007X2ACX8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1355584542&sr=8-1

High street stockists are Asda and smaller pet shops - see here http://www.harringtonspetfood.com/content/UK/stockists

I honestly think there's a special ingredient in this! Neither of mine will touch anything else now!

Luckily I bulk buy when on offer so it does keep the cost down!

  • Was thinking of this stuff (but couldn't remember what you called it:o) I looked at it when I was trying to find a decent hypoallergenic food for the dog and stumbled across it

    http://www.vitalinpetfood.co.uk/mall/productpage.cfm/VitalinCompletePetFood/_VitapurrAll/280882/Vitapurr

5 x 2kg bags work out at £2.41 / kg delivered so pretty good as it's Hypoallergenic & certainly better quality than most of the stuff available in the SM.

There is a 15kg bag but this is only slightly cheaper @ £2.32 / kg so not a huge saving to be had there if the initial cost is an issue. HTH
