£70 Parking Charger - Never Been To This Car Park
Options
Hi - Some help and advice for a new poster please.
My wife received a rather concerning letter from Euro Car Parks on Saturday. It reads:
We understand that you were the registerd keeper or hirer of the vehicle at the time the following Parking Charge Notice was issued:
The letter then lists the PCN No., my wife's car registration, colour and car make which are all correct. The contravention is an Overstay and the Car Park is Nugent Retail Park. The oustanding amount is £70.00. The date of the alleged offence is 4/Feb/2007.
It then states that if payment is not received in 14 days the matter will be referred to debt collection agency, which will incur further charges of £25.00.
Receiving this letter is the first we have heard of this incident. We are concerned because we live in Derby and the only Nugent Retail Park I can find is in Orpington, Kent. Is there somebody using my wifes details or has a mistake been made when taking down the registration number?. We have NEVER BEEN to the this Retail Park and I am wondering
how to proceed and how to word my appeal letter as we have no proof though that we have never been and weren't there on the day in question. The day of the alleged offence was a Sunday and our only trip out was to the local shop which is free parking.
Many thanks in advance

Usually if you've never been there you don't need to worry.Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.0 -
It's likely that they've just taken down the registration incorrectly. Why anybody would want to spend all day Sunday travelling from Derby to visit a retail park in Orpington is beyond reason so I'm sure a call to Euro Car Parks will sort the matter sensibly. Can I help?0

if euro parks do not cooperate then ask for photographic evidence, obviously they will not be any0
-
Yup, ask for the proof. When they can't provide any, politely tell them to leave you alone.0

As an afterthought, could it be a cloned plate?0
