If you are a bit nervous of starting court action and not confident of ringing up and speaking to them thats fine, dont worry, it can be unnerving. You can always in writing, recorded delivery, a final offer to settle out of court, perhaps stating a figure you are prepared to accept. I dont advise to do anything at all by telephone as staff often deny the call took place and there are no guarantees that a settlement agreed this way will be honoured and there will almost certainly be conditions attached to any settlement. You need to get any settlement offer in writing and read carefully through any conditions of acceptance before you close the matter. Good luck whatever you decide to do
