Phnom Penh Hotel please - who's been ?

Looking for a nice hotel in Phnom Penh for a few nights - it's going to be my Christmas present to myself 
Want to get something booked soon since it will be over the festive period and I have looked at Trip Advisor, but such mixed reviews and I don't know if it's just people moaning for the sake of it etc.
Would really appreciate someone from the Uk's perspective on a hotel there.
Can't afford Raffles, but willing to splash out on a more than average one.

my partner went there recently and I booked him into the Pavillon as recommended by tripadvisor - he loved it there - it's not 5 star and if you want that then there are loads of international souless hotels for you to choose from0
