Ultra slow SSD shutdown

On startup everything is fine. Nice & fast.
On general usage, everything is fine.
On shutdown - it can take 5 minutes or so. Hit the shut down option & it goes through the motions & then says "shutting down" .... for about 5 minutes.
I tried it once after just booting it & then shutting it down - didn't have the problem though.
SSD is a Samsung 830 250GB. Was only bought a few weeks ago.

Startup or shutdown delays are often logged in the Performance Diagnostics logI think the surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us.0

What OS? Some have native support for SSDs and others may need to be tweaked.0

It should have come on a disk when you had the SSD.

I had the same problem but it turned out to be the Kaspersky anti virus I have installed. I now pause the AV and shutdown only takes six seconds.0

Have you tried reinstalling your anti virus. Personally I would find one that works there are plenty out there some are free others will have a long free trial.I think the surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us.0 -
I don't know if this will make a difference, but i have VMware Player & i started noticing it after running that & then shutting down. However i tried shutting down after i hadn't run VMware player & it still did it. If i just start up & shut down immediately it doesn't do it.0
