so my opening line should be
    'in nannytone and i'm blind'

do you expect everyone else to point out their differences in every post?

    as i said previously ...
its the content of the post that counts, and not the accuracy.
most peopleunderstabd me perfectly well... even those that i regularly disahree with.

my visual impairment is NOT the most important thing about me.
its pretty insifnigicant unless i am trying to cross a busy road lol

Is that why you don't proof-read your own posts?

Sorry, I don't mean to be confrontational. I was just wondering!

I have worked with two very poorly sighted people in the past. One had to have their font sized so enlarged that they could only fit 12 letters on a computer screen at a time and yet they both held admin jobs and made virtually no spelling mistakes.

I just found it puzzling but my curiosity in the thread wasn't peaked until you just explained that you almost enjoyed the "big reveal".

I don't think he/she was deliberately being awkward, they just didn't understand. How could they possibly guess?

I actually think it's a little disingenuous to write such posts without a word of explanation and then sit back and (as you admit) enjoy watching people squirm when you flourish the registered blind trump card.

Might it not have been more tactful to have sent the above comments as a PM?

    xx

id rather the posts be public.

it doesnt offend me in any way, but maybe it will make other people think before they post.
maybe as a person with a disability, i may be a bit more mindgul, rather than just relying on the written word.

disabled people are normal people first ... just with addition issues.
we dont think or feel any differently to anyone else

the only squirning that i enhoy is from people that cant agrue with my comments, but choose to pick on the spelling mistakes.

as my dad used to say .....
once you have to resort to calling names then youve lost the argument
  • £50 per week is extremely high for gas and electric that's over £200 per month we are a family of five and pay £90 per month. We are careful with heating but have lots of computers and use the dishwasher and tumble drier several times a day.

Depends - we pay more than you but don't use the tumble drier and rarely use the dishwasher. We are all electric and have to make do with convector heaters and a coal fire. It really does depend on what the OP has available for heating the home and water - if just electricity then it can get very costly very quickly.

True but £200 odd quid a month is huge must be savings to be made.

The weekly average is £35, being on payg, the tarrif isn't that great even more so as the essentials tarrif has now stopped, but the £50 is relating to winter use. If I had put my DHP claim in summer, I would have put £20 a week down for energy costs.

Oh the toiletries £10 I put down that you reduced to £5 ??????? can you please tell me where i can buy toilet roll , washing powder, shampoo conditioner washing up liquid, soap, dissinfectant toothpaste for a family of 5 for £5 ????

Just in passing, the white vans of Asians looking for little children to abduct are an urban myth. There's always some kid somewhere who is reckoned to have been nearly grabbed. Usually when they were about to get into trouble for staying out with their friends rather than going home as they were supposed to, or just because some idiot mouth breather wants a bit of attention.

Oh, and there is a good chance your claim is being dealt with by someone whose family originated in India/Pakistan/Bangladesh. It's not a great idea to be offending them before you've even started.

Looking at your statement regarding toiletries and the like,

Toilet roll - Sainsbury's Basic Jumbo Rolls - 6 for £1.96, will last more than a week for your size family. Especially as you and the children aren't indoors all day.

    Detergent - Sainsbury's Basics 21 washes - £1.20. Will last more than a week.

    Disinfectant - Use Sainsbury's Thin Bleach - 29p.

    Washing up liquid - Sainsbury's Basics - 40p.

Soap - Sainsburys Basics - 3 bars for 50p. Will last more than a week.

    Shampoo/Conditioner/Shower gel - Sainsburys Basics 2 in 1 Baby Bath & Shampoo - 46p - or Sainsburys Anti Dandruff S&C - 80p.

    Toothpaste - Sainsburys Freshmint 100ml - 65p

That totals £5.46 but would last more than a week.

If you take a look on the Old Style board there is lots of advice about how to reduce food bills, packed lunch advice (as it's a load cheaper than the junk they shove in front of children - and more filling so they won't be desperately hungry when they get in from school), cleaning advice (as you don't need a hundred different products costing £4 each for each room in the house), etc, and plenty of support for people who haven't had to think about such things ever before, so are finding it a bit of a shock to the system.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.
