The Allinsons Dried Active Yeast in the orange tin is not for use in bread makers. I tried it accidentally and it didn't work

For BMs they have the Easy-Bake version

I don't use a BM as I prefer handmade bread.

Good to hear that it is not just me. Tried another batch and it was still not as nice so I am going to leave the rest of the tin and go back to doves.

Now I just need to find something to do with the rest of the tin, off to google for science projects involving yeast :money:

I've only ever used the Allinsons (yellow tin) yeast in my breadmaker, always had perfect results (maybe because I didn't tell the bm it's the wrong yeast? ;) ) I also store my yeast in the fridge (can't remember why, but seem to recall reading it somewhere)

    HTH

I will look out for the green tin but I don't think I've seen it in my local Mr A, T or S! :)

Interestingly enough, I saw a burger bun recipe I wanted to give a try today so I decided to proof the yeast to see if it was worth keeping or not. It developed a huge foam on top so definately not dead. Dough is in the fridge overnight so we'll see how the buns turn out tomorrow..
(and, on closer inspection, the tin says to refrigerate after opening..oops!)

Old thread I know but recently I've had similar problems myself, like the yeast starts to re-ferment a few days after baking.

Swapped flour and breadmaker but issue remains.
